MLK DAY: TRANSCRIBE_a_THON

In honor of Martin Luther King Jr. The YES! House, Granite Falls Public Library, and American Connections Corps., have come together to honor history through transcription.
Join us in our efforts to contribute to the Smithsonian’s free digital library.
Attendees are encouraged to utilize the GF Libraries’ computers or bring their own devices – laptops or tablets are recommended.
We will be working from the Arkansas Freedman Documents to preserve national history – providing accessible information for current and future generations.
Digital Transcription is the process of preserving a physical document by creating a digital copy! Transcription is an essential volunteer-based work, so join us in providing accessible information worldwide.
– A guided introduction to Transcription and one-on-one assistance.
– Free community computers, or bring your own!
– Snacks and refreshments.
– An opportunity to preserve history – one page at a time.
This event is open to the public – no experience needed! Resources and instructions are provided, along with snacks and refreshments.
