Wonderlust Productions is visiting The YES! House and the Granite Falls community to host an open to the public story circle for their values play that they are writing. The story circle will be at Jimmy's Pizza's back room on Friday, November 21st at 5:30 PM! There will be free pizza for all attendees!

Wonderlust is writing and producing a play about people in Minnesota affected by our nation’s culture wars. They are interested in the perspectives of people across a spectrum of political, economic, cultural, and demographic experiences. Help them write this play by joining them for a story circle about the experiences that shape and impact our values and about how the culture wars are affecting us.

This project isn't about a specific community that is ignored or misunderstood. Instead, it is going to be about the conversations we are having as a country that lead to misunderstanding and the parts of ourselves that we feel are misunderstood. We want to talk with people about the personal experiences they've had in their past that lead them to the values they hold dearest today. Then we want to make art about the multiple points of view that make up this society we all are trying to live in as one community.
We always invite people affected by our topic to be involved at every step, from sharing stories, to creative workshops, to being in the play when we produce it in 2026. This is an opportunity to let your life experience shape this play, to be part of a creative effort, to hear others, to be heard, and to help educate others.

What to expect at a story circle:

  • We will ask some open-ended questions about personal values, then go around a circle
giving each person a chance to tell a story from their experiences when they learned their values, defended their values, and felt that their values were being threatened.

  • Share what you want, don’t share what you don’t want - you can just listen if you want.

  • All participants are invited to speak from their own lived experience, not for a group or
    political party.

  • All participants will be asked to respect each others’ lived experience.

  • Nobody's stories or experiences will be used in the play directly or with identifying
details like a documentary – stories will be blended together into a fictional story.

  • Nobody's stories or experiences will be used without permission.

Wonderlust Productions is a St. Paul arts ensemble that creates live epic plays in collaboration with communities who are a big part of who we are here in Minnesota, but whose stories are usually misunderstood or not known at all. Past projects include plays about the people who work at the State Capitol, people affected by adoption and foster care, military veterans, and caregivers. Wonderlust has also expanded to create accessible adaptations of our work via graphic novels, web series, streaming videos, podcasts and audio plays.
